Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is an American actress, singer and model. She was a model for a while before becoming an actress. Kotero is famous for her role as co-star in the film of Prince's Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the girl group Apollonia 6. The group was just one of the female artists that benefited from Prince's association during the 1980s. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model actress by the end of the '70s with a role in the television series CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the leading actress in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period, she also changed her name.) Then she was replaced by Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 which starred in the film alongside Apollonia 6 under their name. The three scored a minor hit with Sex Shooter but it was when Prince performed as his duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she had a greater chart impact. After a disagreement over the direction of her career Apollonia 6 split up and Kotero quit her relationship with Prince. The singer appeared in several small film projects during this time and was reportedly not allowed to take part in The Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. From 1985 to 1986 she was offered a role on the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. The R&B and dance songs were not a huge hit by the public who purchased music. The album soon vanished. The singer was still active, though not in the limelight, as an actress during the decade that followed, with a few film and television roles. An exercise DVD was released. Apollonia created a bilingual Spanish and English album called Stay with me. After returning to school, she, received a diploma in making films. She then formed her firm and began working in children's TV. Apollonia has many hats. She is a former model, singer-actress and talent supervisor. In her capacity as an actress, she's famous for her performance in the movie Purple Rain. Other films and TV shows comprise Black Magic Woman, The Divorce Ceremony and many others. Kotero debuted her career as a model. Kotero was a contestant in a variety of pageants. Kotero won her first prize at the Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. Then, in the 80s Kotero started to act. Apollonia Kotero has worked as an American actor, singer-model as well as a talent management manager. Her most well-known roles include her role on the show Purple Rain and as the voice of the girl group Apollonia 6 She has released several solo albums, collaborative ones and songs like Red Light Romeo Missmatch The Same Dream or Since I Fell for You. The TV credits she has received comprise CHiPs Fantasy Island Tales of the Gold Monkey Knight Rider Matt Houston Falcon Crest, Falcon Crest Knight Rider Matt Houston as well as CHiPs Fantasy Islands Tales of the Gold Monkey.
