Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is a popular American performer and actress. Her parents include Tom Bell and Lorelei Frygier, both television news directors. Her family was born in Huntington Woods Michigan. The mother of Kristen is Polish as is her father, who is German, English Irish and Scottish. Kristen discovered a passion to perform on the age of a child. In 1992 she won her first part in her audition in Raggedy Ann & Andy. Bell's mother introduced her to an agent prior to her turning 13, and she was subsequently cast in television advertisements for newspapers and commercials. Also, she began private acting classes at the age of 13. Bell played an uncredited character in the film Polish Wedding (1998) in 1998. Bell was a student at Shrine Catholic High School where she participated in the music and drama clubs. When her school staged a show of The Wizard of Oz, Bell was cast as Dorothy. Bell attended New York City for the Tisch School of the Arts to study musical theater following her graduation. Bell left the university in 2001, and began taking on the character of Becky of Tom Sawyer. That was the same year that she also was the first to be credited in Pootie Tang (2001), however, her performance was cut and she was only seen in the credits sequence. Bell made an appearance on Broadway in The Crucible, a revival with Liam Neeson with Angela Bettis.
